Brand pledges to #EndGhosting

No one ever intends to ghost a candidate part-way through the recruitment process. But it’s important to acknowledge that it does sometimes happens. Perhaps a candidate has been “lost” in the system. Perhaps the system couldn’t cope with a huge influx of applications or high volume of vacancies. By registering your brand, you can acknowledge that people may have been unintentionally ghosted by your company in the past. This is your pledge to take steps to address any unintentional ghosting in your recruitment process. Show people that you care. Let’s tackle this problem together. Join the #EndGhosting campaign.

There is hope that experiences can be designed with empathy. That, in combination with a skilled team of expert recruiters, ready to focus on creating positive outcomes regardless of pass/fail, is where the brave, innovative work in talent acquisition lies.

As an absolute minimum, brands should assess right now if there are any examples of inertia or ghosting in their hiring processes, and end it. To obtain true market leadership in hiring, differentiation through positive candidate experience is a competitive advantage, for the brands who choose to focus efforts and resources on it. Those who don’t can expect damage to their brand and a poor reputation.

  • Southeastern Railway

    www.southeasternrailway.co.uk

We receive over 1000 applications per month and some of the adverts are for future opportunities, which means the recruitment process can take a long time. We have put measures in place to prevent a slow response and keep candidates informed. Candidates can log in and see that their application is still live. We publish phone numbers and email addresses for candidates who are keen to follow up on their own terms. It’s a lot of work for us but these are people who want to join our company to spend part of their working lives with us. They could be our next train driver or our next season ticket holder. Each applicant is a person, a future employee and a customer. Every single one is important to us.

  • Tribepad

    www.tribepad.com

When we founded Tribepad we were guided by a simple philosophy; focus on people first, product second and profits third. Tribepad was born of a desire to better serve both the recruitment industry and job seekers and we genuinely care about the people at the heart of that. And that's why we won’t rest on our laurels when issues like ghosting arise. Our industry continues to be put under huge pressure as the job market contracts and expands at an incredible pace. We need to find ways to continue nurturing our talent, to find and develop the next generation of leaders, while maintaining the reputations of the companies we work for. Tech is undoubtedly part of the solution, and yet it’s also more crucial now than ever to put people first.

  • Colas

    www.colas.co.uk

At Colas Ltd, we believe that every application is important and deserves individual attention. To help us offer the best candidate experience we can, we have just implemented a new recruitment technology platform. Our platform allows us to use technology and automated processes to keep in touch with candidates at every stage of their journey with us.

We do not apologise for using technology to help us communicate with candidates. Technology makes it possible. Just because the sending of the message is automated, it doesn’t mean the content can’t be human and personal. Making sure content within the messages reflects our brand and tone of voice, allows us to be confident we’re communicating with all of our candidates in the best way we can.

  • The Firm

    www.thefirm-network.com

It is not news that recruiters manage huge volumes of both vacancies and applicants and that this also means managing a high volume of candidate engagement activities in order to meet the increasing expectations of applicants living in a digital world. But here at The FIRM, we do not believe that this should justify candidate ghosting – ever. We strongly believe that using the right technology, having the right strategies and processes, and investing in the right training for recruiters and hiring managers can make all the difference. It is about working smarter, not harder – putting candidate experience at the absolute heart of everything. As recruiters, we have the power, the passion but also the responsibility, to make every candidate feel valued, and to create a recruitment experience that is remembered for all the right reasons. We pledge to continue to help recruiters do this by supporting, connecting, developing and inspiring them.
